A Brief History of Denim: The California Story

France: the beret. Scotland: the kilt. The Netherlands: clogs. Plenty of fashion staples are synonymous with their country of origin. And our favorite fashion staple of all? Ding ding! Denim: synonymous with its country of origin, the United States. Few other style staples in existence get better and richer with age like a great pair of denim, which is just one of the many reasons why it’s so universally loved. 

Aside from being associated with U.S. fashion, specifically denim started out as a staple from the wild west itself: California. From the 1700’s to this very day, denim is still going strong and worn by style-loving and not-so-style loving humans alike around the world. It doesn’t matter who you are, almost everyone owns it in some form. So how did denim manage to travel through space and time to still be the fashion staple we know and love today?
